Toyin Abraham is renowned as one of the most creative Nigerian moviemakers.
The Alakada franchise was well-received when it debuted in 2013. The storyline is based on the life of a young lady identified as Yetunde (Toyin Abraham). Alakada is a satire that ridicules the fake life of young Nigerian ladies who claim to be who they are not.
In the movie, Toyin Abraham’s character is simply a wannabe from a poor background, however, she is a firm believer in the mantra, ‘fake it till you make it’. The movie is aimed at provoking laughter, tears and fun.
Further, the success of the film resulted in the release of two more instalments. In 2017, the actress released a sequel titled ‘Alakada Reloaded’, the 4th instalment in the comedy franchise.
‘Fate of Alakada’ is directed by Kayode Kasum.
Previous productions in the acclaimed Alakada series were released in 2009, 2013 and the one in 2017, which had a ground-breaking cinema debut and sold-out shows across Nigeria.
